The U of A's Computing Science Centre, completed in Spring 2000, comprises 6000 square meters of dedicated teaching and research space, including innovative "collaboratories" - integrated facilities where industry partners, faculty and students can work together on a variety of research initiatives. The DCS maintains 11 separate research facilities for advanced study in the fields of advanced man-machine interfaces, algorithms, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, communication networks, computer graphics, computer vision, database systems, robotics, software engineering and software systems. Resources include an immersive visualization facility known as the VizRoom, high-performance computing resources (WestGrid) and the Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Machine Learning.
